Tent and Footprint Cleaning and Care Instructions:

Storage:

Always ensure your tent is dry and free of debris before storing. To prevent permanent creases, fold and roll your tent differently each time. Store it in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaving your tent in hot temperatures, such as in a car trunk or attic, for extended periods, as this can damage the material coatings. Storing your tent while damp can lead to mildew, which may cause odors, leaks, or delamination. Please note that mildew damage is not covered under warranty.

Cleaning:

For light cleaning, gently sponge the product with warm (not hot) water.

For a more thorough cleaning, you will need:

  • A wash basin (or bathtub)
  • Warm water (not hot)
  • Waterproof Gear Cleaner (we recommend products like Nikwax Tech Wash)
  • A sponge
  1. Submerge your gear in warm, clean water and gently agitate with your hands. Drain the dirty water and repeat until the water runs mostly clear and most of the dirt/grime is removed.
  2. Apply a waterproof gear-specific wash and gently work it into the fabric with a sponge.
  3. Rinse the gear thoroughly.
  4. Hang it up to dry.
  5. Ensure your gear is completely dry before storage or use—triple-checking is advised.

*Do not machine wash or dry clean. Detergents and dry cleaning solvents can damage the fabric and compromise waterproofing. *Never use hot water, bleach, standard liquid detergents, or dishwashing liquids. *Allow the gear to dry COMPLETELY before storage or use. *Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as UV rays can degrade waterproofing.

Seam Sealing:

Big Agnes tents come seam-sealed from the manufacturing process! The seam tape is durable enough to prevent water leakage. Taped seams do not require additional seam sealing with a liquid sealer unless you seek extra protection. Ensure any applied seam-sealer is completely dry before repacking your tent. Damage from misapplication may void the warranty.

Zippers:

To prolong the life of your zippers, keep them clean to prevent wear on the coils and sliders. If they become filled with dirt, vacuum or brush the zippers before storing the tent. We recommend using Gear Aid Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant.
